Maya Jankelowitz came to New York on a trip from Israel in her 20s after serving in the Isreali Defense Forces for a couple of years. She never used her plane ticket home — 20 years later, here she is.
Fast forward to 2012, this co-owner couple opened their first restaurant, which is now in six locations plus an awesome cookbook. For anyone who is a New York City transplant, this place feels like home no matter where you come from. New York Magazine dubbed its international, mash-up menu, “South African Israeli Jewish Grandmother Cuisine.” We love ❤️
